For those of you getting hitched in 2012, we’ve been featured in the blog of ‘tie the knot’ onthehighstreet.com under the ‘Wonderfully White’ section whith ideas for Christmas wedding themes.
At the other end of the colour spectrum we’ve just released two new winter warming colour combinations, to soothe and comfort through the dark and colder days ahead, ‘Winter Spice’ and ‘Roaring Fire’……
Winter Spice is made up with dusky rose, aubergine, oatmeal, pale grey and mushroom brown to give a soothing, soft, warm glow. Roaring Fire mixes ruby red, sunflower yellow, tan brown and aubergine to give off a vibrant, flaming, flair.
For more information on ordering these colour sets visit the pick your own section of our website, selecting the length string you want followed by the colour choices above.
And if shopping’s not your favourite Christmas pass time, it’s still not too late to buy one of our fabulous gift vouchers to light up the life of someone special this holiday season.

As a result of last months visit to Top Drawer in London, we’ve been featured on the My Deco blog as one of the stand out traders to catch their eye at this years show. They even went as far as giving Bryn a starring role in this great little for mydecoTV.
We weren’t the only one’s sporting our lovely lights at this event either. The Trend Bible stand also featured a set as part of their Midnight Garden showcase for spring summer 2012. Looking gorgeous!

In celebration of the Brighton Art Fair, which kicks off today (22nd – 25th Sept), we’ve come over all high brow and decided to discuss our favourite arty type things. It’s been hard to narrow it down but the wrangling is over and below is one from each of us. Enjoy!
Aye’s choice is Damian Hirst’s Valium (she obviously has work on the brain!)…..
Jess is thinking of nothing but her holiday (she’s off tomorrow for 2 weeks)
Bryn has gone for local painter, Sophie Abbott‘s Disco Balls painting. She’ll be at the art fair peddling her wares until Sunday

Chrissey’s all about the lights too, but in this case it’s a Dan Flavin fluoro floor pile.

We strongly believe here at Cable & Cotton that our string lights appeal to everyone. The wide range of colours means that all types of atmospheres can be created, from romantic and party to chilled-out and serene. And so, just as we believe adults love our lights, we know how popular they are amongst children, too.
We all know how much kids love fairy string lights and novelty lights, so it’s no surprise that they love the bright colours we offer. For younger children and babies, though, we offer a range of pale and soft colours which will be more than fitting for the nursery. Boys can obviously opt for blues, and girls for pink, but if you’d rather have a less defining set, then a mixture of Pale Yellow, Lavender, Ivory, Pale Pink, Sand Stone, Dusty Blue, Olive Green and Pure White is a subtle way of adding colour to your baby’s bedroom (see above).
Of course, older boys and girls may prefer some slightly more vibrant bedroom string lights. For boys it doesn’t have to mean all blue. OK, we’re not going to totally avoid blue, so we recommended throwing in a few accent colours for good measure. The mixture above is made up of Slate Grey, Marine Blue, Khaki Green, Turquoise, Prussian Blue and Orange, and shows how our lights can liven up any boy’s bedroom.
For girls, again it would be hard to stay away from pink. All little girls, from toddlers to teenagers, love their bedrooms to be fit for a princess, which is why we think any girl would love the above set of pink string lights. Made up of Fuschia Pink, Lilac, Dusty Rose, Flash Pink, Deep Purple, Pale Pink, Violet and Soft Pink, any little girl would enjoy the warmth of these lights.
With our range of Pick Your Own string lights, you can also create your very own set of string lights to match an existing colour theme. And, just as your kids grow up, they can help update your child’s bedroom as quickly as they do!

After yet another month of fantastic entrants for the February Photo Competition, this month we decided to go for a winner who made us all gush with their romantic display of string lights.
We’re not afraid to admit it, but we’re all big softies here at Cable & Cotton, and so it wasn’t too difficult to give the prestigious February Photo Competition award to… Rachel Law!
Showing how a single colour can be just as effective as multiple colours, these red decorative string lights have clearly helped to set the Valentine’s Day mood for Rachel and her partner.
The red string lights not only compliment the rather stunning display of red roses (which, by the way, none of us are jealous of…honest…), but will be able to set the romantic mood on their own throughout the year! Take note guys; there’s no excuse to leave the romantic stuff to one day a year, after all!
So Rachel is February’s winner, and will receive a set of 35-bulb string lights of her own choice. If you want to enter March’s photo competition, then send us your photos of your string lights to be in with a chance of winning.

In case you have not yet had the chance to check out our new range of Pre-Selected decorative string lights, then now’s the chance. Just like all areas of design, we were inspired by the wonders of nature, as well as the diversity of the world’s most popular cultural hot-spots.
So this year, our new collection of cotton lights has been designed to bring into your home the feeling some of the most majestic cultural destinations our magnificent world has to offer.
For those who want to inject the feeling of fiesta into their home, then you’ll love the Brazil and Mexican (see above) decorative lights. Made up of contrasting blues, purples, oranges and yellows, these two can definitely help to spice up your home.
For those who want a far more refreshing injection of colour, then experience nature’s finest with the Devon and Caribbean (see above) cotton lights. Made up of crisp blues, greens and yellows, and some neutral creams and beiges too, these help to give your home a more revitalising colour lift.
To experience far away and exotic dream locations, then check out the Morocco, Carousel and Havana (see above) sets of indoor string lights. Mixing slightly more interesting and unusual colours, these three sets of string lights help to add intrigue and interest to any interior.
For a real sophisticated set of globe string lights, then check our oh la la Paris set. Or for a set of string lights that say ‘hot hot hot’, then feel the burn with our fabulously hot Outback (see above) range inspired by the heat of Australia’s deserts.
What ever you want out of your set of indoor string lights, whether it’s an injection of vibrancy or the feeling of relaxation, then you’ll find the perfect set in our new range collection of Pre-Selected string lights.
